What is the Acadia Audio Tour?

The Acadia Audio Tour is a self-guided tour that has been prepared in cooperation with the National Park Service.  The tour introduces visitors to Acadia National Park and is loaded with information about Acadia’s history, geology and natural resources.

What do I need to do to take the tour?

The tour is available in a CD or Cassette Tape format and allows you to tour Acadia in the comfort of your own vehicle, at your own pace and on your own schedule.  You simply need to utilize the CD or Cassette player in your own vehicle and follow the instructions on the tour as you drive around Acadia.

How long is the tour?

The tour covers 56 miles in Acadia National Park and can be completed as time and your schedule allows.  The first part of the tour covers the Park Loop Road and is 27 miles in total.  The second part of the tour is a 29 mile loop that includes a tour of Somes Sound and Northeast Harbor.

What are the highlights of the Acadia Audio Tour?

The tour allows you to see and hear about Acadia’s most famous attractions  --  Cadillac Mountain, the Bubbles, Otter Point, Thunder Hole, Sand Beach, Abbe Museum, Jordan Pond & Jordan Pond House, Frenchman Bay, Somes Sound.

What should I bring on the Acadia Audio Tour?

Bring the personal convenience items you would normally take with you anytime you travel (camera, sunscreen, snacks, drinks, picnic or beach gear, hats, sunglasses, hiking gear, etc).  Since the tour is self-guided you will have ample time to explore any and all areas of Acadia which capture your interest.

Do I need to start the Acadia Audio Tour at one particular place?

No.  The narration of the tour begins at the Acadia Visitor Center in Hulls Cove and proceeds sequentially around the Park Loop Road.  However, if you wish to begin at another point along this route, simply check the map and driving instructions printed on the CD cover inside your case and forward the CD or Cassette to the point corresponding to the place along the Park Loop Road where you wish to begin.

Caution: Regardless of where you wish to start, be sure to listen to the introduction of the Acadia Audio Tour
so you will understand how to follow the tour.

What does the Acadia Audio Tour cost?

It costs $12.95 plus tax for the tour.  This one price covers your entire group and allows you to take the tour as many times as you wish.  Also, since you have the option to replay the tour anytime, you will never miss out on the narration.
